There is plenty to do at our Marlborough Sounds Bach whether it's a family holiday or a romantic break. Some of our favourite things to do are:

  • Relaxing with a glass of wine in front of the fire
  • Walking part of the Queen Charlotte Track
  • Sampling some of the mountain bike tracks
  • Reading a book on the deck with Kenepuru Sound as a back drop.
  • Fine dining at Portage
  • Cruising the many vineyards around the Marlborough region
  • Hiring a kayak or sail boat from Portage to explore the Marlborough Sounds

Picton Bach - Marlborough Sounds Bach - DeckOur Marlborough Sounds Bach is nestled in bush in a sunny elevated position with spectacular views (hence the name - Birds Nest). You will hear and see the lovely Bell Birds and Tui.

It is a 2 minute walk to a small cove that is lovely for swimming and snorkelling. You may prefer to use our dinghy and catch some fish.

The Birds Nest is light and spacious with extensive views and outside decking.  This holiday house can cater to everyones needs in the family; entertaining, exploring, fishing or just good old relaxing.

Our bach can cater for young and old. We have a playstation for the teenagers, a wee pool for the toddles and a separate sleep-out, with its own deck, for your guests.

Our holiday home is not only green in colour, but also green in function. Water is collected from the roof, the bach has a modern odorless composting toilet installed.

The 'Birds Nest' can be accessed by sea or road. It is a 45 minutes drive from the charming Marlborough town of Havelock with an assortment of bars and cafes serving some of the finest mussels you will ever find (Havelock is the mussel capital of the world).

It is possible to access the The Queen Charlotte track from Torea which is 3 km from the bach.

Portage, a few minutes down the road, is a world famous resort that houses a bar, cafe and fine dining. You can hire boats, bikes, and water toys from the Portage shop.
